Tunnel Boring utilizes a steerable rotary cutting head for excavating while hydraulic jacks advance the tunnel. Tunnel Boring is suitable for a wide variety of soil types, it allows for the safe removal of obstructions and is adaptable for changing soil conditions.

BTrenchless offers various types of cutting heads to compliment our TBM systems. These range in size from 44” – 168” O.D. wheel machines. Excavator style TBM’s are available based on size and ground conditions. Closed face cutters attach to the TBM and are used in wet, unstable ground conditions. Hydraulically operated doors prevent subsidence while excavating the ground. The closed face attachments are available on our wheel machines from 44” – 144” O.D. haul systems transport the spoil from the TBM to the shaft. The haul systems are comprised of a haul unit, track, and dirt bucket(s). The haul units are electrically powered with removable battery packs and are equipped with electric or hydraulic disk brakes.
