  HORIZONTAL DIRECTIONAL DRILLING

Horizontal Directional Drilling or HDD uses a guided tool head to first drill out a pilot hole at the designed grade and alignment. A reamer is then attached to the drill string and pulled back through the pilot hole, liquefying and expanding the borehole in preparation for pulling back the product pipe. HDD can be the most cost effective and quickest method, as it reduces surface disturbance and minimizes impact on traffic and local residents.
