Guided Boring Machine (GBM)

The Guided Boring Method (GBM), also known as the pilot tube method, is used in conjunction with the horizontal auger boring machine to install small-diameter pipes with greater grade and alignment precision.  The GBM consists of a specially designed theodolite guidance system to guide the installation of pipes.

  • Grade and alignment precision
  • Can increase the length and accuracy of other trenchless methods, such as Auger, Hand Tunnel and Hammer, for varying soil and grade concerns

  • Maximum drives of 400 feet
  • Non-homogeneous soil types
